After the age of 20, a person loses 1% of collagen each year. You may notice the affect this has on your hair and skin including fine lines and wrinkles, less volume, less “bounce back” and increased dullness and laxity. There are many ways to produce and activate more collagen, but what’s better than using your OWN body’s blood!

Platelet-rich plasma, also known as PRP, is a concentrated blend of plasma cells and specific growth factors that is created from your own blood. For years, doctors have used PRP in joints to help heal damaged joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments for its regenerative benefits. Here at Hall Plastic Surgery, we use PRP to stimulate hair growth, during a micro needling treatment on the face/neck, and under the eye. Plasma helps repair blood vessels, promotes cell growth, and stimulates collagen production.

How it works:

For hair restoration, one of our medical professionals at Hall Plastic Surgery and Rejuvenation Center will draw your blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate platelet-rich plasma from red blood cells. The PRP is then injected into the scalp. The process works by extending the growth phase of the hair cycle. The treatment itself takes about an hour and you can begin to see results in approximately 3 months.

For micro needling with PRP, an aesthetician at Hall Plastic Surgery and Rejuvenation Center will perform the micro needling treatment (tiny needle punctures in the skin) and then apply your PRP over the tiny punctures allowing for deeper absorption. This powerful combination rejuvenates skin and reinvigorates cellular turnover leading to increased collagen production, uneven skin tone, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles. The benefit of adding PRP to micro needling speeds up the healing process of the skin for faster results.

For PRP under the eye, a certified injector at Hall Plastic Surgery and Rejuvenation Center will consult with the client to ensure they are a good candidate. This treatment will help with dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, hallows and loss of elasticity and firmness. The PRP does not act like under-eye filler and the injection is absorbed by the body in 2-3 days. After absorption, the cells will begin to gradually regenerate within a few days and continue to do so for a few months. Clients may need 2-3 treatments 2-3 months apart for full therapeutic benefits. Results may vary due to the individual’s response to PRP induced collagen regeneration.
