What is Halo?

Halo is an advanced hybrid fractional laser by Sciton that delivers two wavelengths of laser energy — ablative and non-ablative — in a single treatment to resurface the skin and rebuild collagen at depth. The combination is what makes Halo unique: the ablative wavelength renews the surface to clear sun damage, brown spots, and uneven texture, while the non-ablative wavelength works deeper to stimulate collagen and remodel the skin. Together they deliver the kind of result once reserved for aggressive, high-downtime lasers — but with a recovery measured in days, not weeks — and the signature radiant “Halo Glow.”

At Hall Plastic Surgery & Rejuvenation MedSpa, Halo is performed by MedSpa Director Tricia Hall, CLT at our Westlake and Cedar Park locations. Because the treatment is fully customizable in depth and intensity, the provider’s judgment shapes both the result and the recovery — and because the MedSpa operates inside a board-certified plastic surgery practice, you get honest guidance on whether Halo is the right tool for your skin.

How it works

How Halo resurfaces deeper with less downtime.

Older lasers forced a trade-off: dramatic results meant weeks of recovery, or easy recovery meant modest results. Halo’s hybrid approach was engineered to break that compromise.

Two wavelengths, one pass, customized depth

Surface renewal and deep remodeling at once.

Halo delivers an ablative wavelength that vaporizes microscopic columns of damaged surface skin — clearing sun spots, discoloration, and rough texture — alongside a non-ablative wavelength that travels deeper to heat the dermis and trigger robust new collagen. Because both are applied in the same treatment, you get meaningful resurfacing and deep rejuvenation together, rather than choosing between them.

The system uses dynamic, real-time guidance to deliver energy uniformly and precisely to the planned depth, so treatment is consistent across the face and tailored to your goals. Your provider sets the intensity — a lighter pass for a quick-recovery refresh, or a deeper treatment for more dramatic correction of sun damage and texture. That tunability is exactly why an experienced provider matters.

Treats
Sun damage and discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven texture and tone, dullness, and signs of aging on the face, neck, chest, and hands.
Downtime
Typically a few days. Expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling, followed by a fine bronze/sandpaper texture (“MENDs”) that sheds over about 2–5 days to reveal fresh skin.
Results timeline
The “Halo Glow” appears within about a week; tone and texture keep improving over the following weeks to months as collagen rebuilds. Many see strong results from a single treatment.
Why Halo

What makes Halo different from other lasers.

Halo earned its reputation by giving patients results that used to require far more downtime — here’s what sets it apart.

The first hybrid fractional laser

Most lasers are either ablative (powerful, long recovery) or non-ablative (gentle, slower results). Halo combines both in one device, so you get deep correction and collagen building without the weeks of downtime that full-ablative resurfacing demands.

The signature “Halo Glow”

Patients consistently describe a luminous, lit-from-within radiance in the days after treatment. It’s become the treatment’s calling card — visible glow plus genuine, lasting skin-quality improvement.

Customizable intensity

Halo scales to your schedule and goals — a lighter setting for a refresh with quick recovery, or a deeper treatment for significant sun damage and texture. One platform, many depths, tuned to you.

Precision energy delivery

Dynamic real-time guidance helps deliver energy uniformly to the intended depth, supporting consistent, predictable results across the treatment area — in the hands of a trained provider.

Candidacy

Is Halo right for you?

Halo is the deepest resurfacing step in the Sciton family, so it shines for surface and texture concerns — and there are cases where a different tool is the smarter starting point. Here’s how to tell.

If your concern is… Halo is… Better-suited alternative
Sun damage, discoloration, and rough texture together An excellent fit —
Fine lines, enlarged pores, and dull, aging skin A strong option —
You want dramatic resurfacing but limited downtime Designed for exactly this —
Mostly brown spots, redness, or rosacea (tone only) More than you need BBL / Forever Young BBL
Early, mild texture with the least possible downtime Heavier than needed Moxi for a gentle refresh
Skin laxity, jowls, or sagging Not a tightening tool Morpheus 8 or Ultherapy

Halo can be tailored to many skin types, but laser resurfacing requires careful settings and screening on deeper or recently tanned skin, and is generally avoided over active infections, on recently tanned skin, with certain photosensitizing medications, and during pregnancy. This is precisely why an experienced, trained provider matters. At your consultation, Tricia assesses your skin type and history to confirm Halo is safe and right for you — or recommends a better-matched treatment.

What to expect

From consultation to the Halo Glow — the timeline.

Consultation
Day 0

Tricia evaluates your skin type, concerns, and history, confirms Halo is appropriate, and recommends a treatment intensity matched to your goals and how much downtime you can plan for. You leave with a plan and pricing in writing.

Treatment day
~60–90 minutes

A topical numbing cream is applied first (about 30–60 minutes), keeping the treatment comfortable. The handpiece is then passed over the skin delivering both wavelengths; most patients feel warmth and a prickling sensation. Cooling air adds comfort throughout.

First 24–48 hours
Days 0–2

Expect redness, swelling, and a warm, sunburn-like feeling. The skin then develops a fine bronzed, sandpaper-like texture as treated cells (“MENDs”) work their way out. Gentle skincare and diligent sun protection are essential.

Peeling & glow
Days 3–7

The bronzed texture flakes off over roughly two to five days — do not pick — revealing fresh, brighter skin underneath. By around the end of the first week, the signature radiant “Halo Glow” emerges and makeup can typically be worn again.

Full results & maintenance
Weeks 2–12+

Tone and texture continue refining as collagen rebuilds over the following weeks and months. Many patients are thrilled after a single treatment; some choose a second for deeper correction, and periodic maintenance helps sustain results against ongoing sun exposure.

Investment

What Halo costs in Austin.

Halo pricing depends on the area treated (full face, face and neck, chest, or hands) and the intensity of your treatment. Because many patients achieve strong results from a single Halo, it can offer excellent value compared with treatments that require an extended series. If a deeper correction or an add-on like BBL is part of your plan, that’s reflected in the quote. Your exact pricing is provided in writing at your consultation.

Hall Plastic Surgery & Rejuvenation MedSpa offers patient financing through several partners, with 0% APR options for qualified borrowers, so you can spread the investment over time. Ask about current MedSpa specials and event pricing.

How it compares

Halo vs. other Sciton skin treatments.

“Should I do Halo, Moxi, or BBL?” is the question at nearly every skin consultation. All are Sciton platforms — here’s the honest difference, and why they’re often combined.

Halo

The deepest resurfacing of the three — hybrid ablative + non-ablative for significant sun damage, texture, pores, and wrinkles. More downtime, more dramatic renewal, often in a single treatment.

Moxi

A gentle, non-ablative laser for early texture and maintenance with minimal downtime. Great for a refresh or for younger skin. Learn more →

BBL / Forever Young BBL

Light therapy for tone — sun spots, redness, rosacea — and aging maintenance. Frequently paired with Halo in the same visit for tone plus resurfacing. Learn more →

Morpheus 8

RF microneedling when the goal is tightening and remodeling at depth, not surface resurfacing. Complements Halo in a complete plan. Learn more →

Common questions

Common questions about Halo.

Halo is a hybrid fractional laser by Sciton that combines ablative and non-ablative laser energy in a single treatment. The ablative wavelength renews the skin’s surface to clear sun damage, discoloration, and rough texture, while the non-ablative wavelength works deeper to stimulate collagen. Together they resurface and rejuvenate the skin—improving tone, texture, pores, and fine lines—while producing the signature radiant Halo Glow.

Halo delivers two laser wavelengths at once. The ablative beam vaporizes microscopic columns of damaged surface skin, while the non-ablative beam heats the deeper dermis to build new collagen. Treating both layers in the same session gives dramatic resurfacing results with far less downtime than traditional fully-ablative lasers, and the device guides energy precisely to the intended depth.

The Halo Glow is the luminous, lit-from-within radiance patients notice in the days after treatment, typically emerging around the end of the first week as the treated skin sheds and fresh skin is revealed. It reflects both the immediate surface renewal and the deeper collagen rebuilding that continues afterward.

Halo effectively treats sun damage and discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven texture and tone, and overall dullness or signs of aging. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, and is customizable in intensity to match your concerns and downtime tolerance.

Most patients plan for a few days. Expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling for the first day or two, followed by a fine bronzed, sandpaper-like texture as treated skin works its way out and flakes off over roughly two to five days. Makeup can usually be worn again around the end of the first week.

A topical numbing cream is applied for about 30 to 60 minutes before treatment to keep you comfortable, and cooling air is used during the procedure. Most patients describe warmth and a prickling sensation that is well tolerated. Any discomfort afterward feels like a sunburn and is temporary.

Many patients achieve strong results from a single Halo treatment, which is part of its appeal. Depending on the degree of sun damage and your goals, your provider may recommend a second treatment for deeper correction, and periodic maintenance helps sustain results over time. Your plan is set at consultation.

The signature Halo Glow typically appears within about a week as the skin finishes shedding and reveals fresh skin underneath. Tone and texture continue to improve over the following weeks to months as new collagen rebuilds, so results keep getting better after the initial glow.

Halo can be tailored to a range of skin types, but laser resurfacing requires careful settings and screening on deeper or recently tanned skin to be safe and effective—which is exactly why an experienced, trained provider matters. At your consultation, Tricia assesses your skin type and history to confirm Halo is appropriate or recommends a better-matched option.

All three are Sciton platforms. Halo is the deepest resurfacing of the three, combining ablative and non-ablative energy for significant sun damage, texture, and wrinkles. Moxi is a gentler, non-ablative laser for early texture and maintenance with minimal downtime. BBL is light therapy focused on tone—sun spots, redness, rosacea. They are often combined for a complete result.

Yes. Halo is frequently paired with BBL in the same visit—BBL for tone and Halo for resurfacing—and can be coordinated with treatments like Morpheus8 for tightening, with timing guided by your provider. Tricia will recommend the right combination and sequence for your skin and goals.
